Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you use stabledigital.com.au, why, where it goes, and how to have it removed. It is written to be checkable: everything here describes what the site and our systems actually do.

Who we are

Dotdothorse Pty Ltd (ABN 68 660 378 950), trading as Stable Digital. The software behind this site is built and run by FF Tech, another business of the same company. Contact us about anything on this page at hello@stabledigital.com.au.

What we collect, and when

When you just read the site. We record page views through our own analytics software, which we host ourselves. It sets no cookies and does not build a profile of you — it counts pages, referrers and countries in aggregate. Nothing is sent to Google or an advertising network.

We also record, in your own browser and nowhere else, how you arrived and which of our articles you have read:

  • the page you first landed on, and the site that referred you
  • the same for your most recent arrival from outside our site
  • the article pages you have visited — up to 20, with the address and date, but without any query string
  • the time of your first visit

This is held in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere while you browse. Clearing your browser's site data for stabledigital.com.au deletes it entirely. It is per-browser and per-device: we cannot connect your phone to your laptop, and we do not try to.

We remove the query string from any article address before storing it, so tracking parameters that some advertising platforms append to links are never recorded.

When you send an enquiry. The form asks for your name and email, and optionally your phone number, business name, business website, where you think the leak is, and a description of your situation. When you submit, the record described above is sent along with it.

When you book a call. Bookings run through Cal.com, which collects the details you enter to schedule the meeting.

Where it goes when you enquire

Your enquiry is split at the moment you submit it, and the two halves are kept apart on purpose.

Your contact details — name, email, phone, business, and what you wrote — go to our own content system, where we can read and reply to them. They are also emailed to us.

How you found us — the pages and referrer information described above — goes to our engine, the system that plans and writes what we publish. The engine is never sent your name, email, phone number, or message. It is not a matter of us choosing not to look: the engine has no field to store them in, and it refuses any submission that contains them outright rather than quietly discarding them.

Both halves are labelled with the same random identifier, generated when you submit. That identifier is not derived from anything about you — it is not your email, and it is not a scrambled version of it. Only the first system can connect the identifier back to you.

The purpose is that we can learn which of our articles bring in enquiries without our publishing system holding anyone's personal information.

If you later book a call

When a booking comes in, we look up the email address against enquiries we already hold, to see whether the booking came from someone who had contacted us before. The email is used for that check and then discarded — it is not passed on to the engine.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of services to run the site and reply to you:

Service What it handles
Vercel Hosts the website; keeps standard server logs including IP addresses
Sanity Stores our content and your enquiry
Resend Sends us the email notification of your enquiry
Cal.com Runs the booking calendar

Our analytics are self-hosted, so page-view data is not shared with anyone.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

If you become a client, we keep your details for as long as we are working together and for seven years afterwards, to meet our tax and business record-keeping obligations.

If you enquire and we don't end up working together, we keep your enquiry for 24 months, then delete it. We chose 24 months because decisions in this market are often slow, and an enquiry from last year is frequently still a live conversation.

The pages-and-referrer information in our engine is kept for the life of a working relationship, because its value is in the long tail — an article published in March may lead to an enquiry in October. When a working relationship ends, we delete it.

The record in your own browser stays until you clear your site data.

Getting a copy, a correction, or deletion

Email hello@stabledigital.com.au and we will:

  • tell you what we hold about you
  • correct anything wrong
  • delete it, unless we are required to keep it

We will respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change what we collect or where it goes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
